SAR #11010

“No law can replace personal responsibility.  And the more power you have and the more influence you have, the more responsibility you have.”   Bill Clinton.

Quoted:   Sarah Palin's spokesperson aide says “Our cross-hairs map had nothing to do with violence or guns.”

Twitter Tattler:  The US  secretly subpoenaed the complete personal records of 635,561 Twitter users thought to be co-conspirators with Julian Assange in the WikiLeaks cable releases.  In addition, Twitter was to identify everyone else each of these 635,561 people follow on Twitter.  It is assumed that similar no-tell subpoenas have been served on Google and Facebook, Papal for the records of those who sent money, and most likely on the internet service providers for the 635,561 and their millions of friends.  Guilt by association used to require that someone be found guilty first.

Down for the Count:  A number of prominent economists say that the future does not look good for the US, not this year, not in 10 years. It is also acknowledged that the United States has abandoned even the pretense of fairness at the economic level.  That era of American history is over.

Mirror Image:  Germany and France are trying to force Portugal to turn the country over to the IMF now, before it goes Irish.   This is more to keep the contagion from spreading to Spain than any great concern for Portugal's fate.  Citigroup cites fears that the chain of defaults will spread to Japan and the US.

No Rights, No Liberties:  The Republicans are changing the name of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties to the Constitution Subcommittee.  Part of their deficit cutting – this will save on ink.

Slippery Slope:  Legal experts say that BP and Halliburton will face criminal charges over last year's oil spill now that the National Commission concluded there had been “a failure of management”.

Our Town:   Plans are underway to develop a mandatory national online digital identity system that will officials claim will let them have complete access to your life reduce fraud and identity theft and allow people complete confidence that their personal information was safe.  “We are not talking about a national ID card.”   It is one, but they're not talking about it.

Turning Up The Heat:  New Mexico's Republican governor Martinez has killed state regulations calling for 3% annual reductions in greenhouse gas emissions “because it would be burdensome for industry and harmful to the state's economy.”  And after a few more decades  the ever hotter, ever dryer climate will be profitable?  The governor also dismissed the Environmental Improvement Board informing them that environmental improvement was a socialist plot.

Scare Headline:   Illinois to Raise Taxes 75%!   From 3% to 5.25%.

Two Wrongs:   The Massachusetts foreclosure ruling – that the banks' cavalier disregard for the long-established documentary requirements for recording real estate transactions  invalidated their foreclosure actions – is undoubtedly the legally correct view.   But morally, the plaintiffs should not get their houses back, even though in these cases they will. It is also easy to imagine that the houses in question had been bought out of foreclosure – and hard to imagine how that situation would, should, or could be resolved.

The New One, Two:  The State Department has changed passport application forms to ask for the names of Parent One and Parent Two, “in recognition of different types of families.” When it's time, it's time.

Porn O'Graph:  Where the boys (and girls) aren't.

re The New One, Two: only two parents to list on the passport? Well, even if the discriminatory social custom of restricting legal parenthood only to couples continues, this seems to leave out:

female genetic parent (egg donor)
female gestational parent (birth mother)
male genetic parent (sperm donor)

Maybe the passport only needs the name of custodial parents - but surely the birth certificate should have all the relevant info.

Obama, the Kenyan, was using hate speech in 2008 with the metaphor of his supporters bringing guns to a knife fight with Republicans during the campaign. Of course like the Ft. Hood shooter nothing was said by the MSM and everyone was cautioned to avoid making broad statements because after all it was a dumbass socialist and an angry Muslim doing the talking and shooting. You libs/progressives are more full of shit than a stuffed Christmas Turkey!

Obama: ‘If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun’

Amy Chozick reports on the presidential race from Philadelphia.

Mobster wisdom tells us never to bring a knife to a gun fight. But what does political wisdom say about bringing a gun to a knife fight?

Sen. Barack Obama talks at a town hall meeting at Radnor Middle School in Wayne, Pa., Saturday, June 14. (AP)

That’s exactly what Barack Obama said he would do to counter Republican attacks “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said at a Philadelphia fundraiser Friday night. “Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”

mistah charley is right, but didn't go far enough - my daughter has been my daughter since she was 12 - but her biological father remains a part of her life. So should the form have places for multiple male parents even without the question of same-sex couples parenting an adoptive child...

Jared Loughner, Alleged Shooter in Gabrielle Giffords Attack, Described by Classmate as "Left-Wing Pothead"

We are a nation divided. Truth is longer based in reality. Reality is simply an individuals truth viewed through their political prism. The leftist leaning ckm turns a blind eye toward any reality that does not fit within the prism he has confined himself to. Those on the right do the same. The link provided is evidence of the lefts vitriol. I am sure a similar compilation could be made for the left against the right. And all I am left with, is the sadness that I too, once upon a time believed in a brighter future. That is no longer the case.

Two Wrongs:

I also read that in a separate part of the ruling the judge specifically stated that it was clear that the foreclosed people were in default. So if the banks could get the original paperwork in order there would be no remedy.

What a mess this MBS situation created.

Jared Loughner is a product of Sheriff Dupnik’s office

This is the report that Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has been dreading since the tragic event on Saturday January 8.

The sheriff has been editorializing and politicizing the event since he took the podium to report on the incident. His blaming of radio personalities and bloggers is a pre-emptive strike because Mr. Dupnik knows this tragedy lays at his feet and his office. Six people died on his watch and he could have prevented it. He needs to step up and start apologizing to the families of the victims instead of spinning this event to serve his own political agenda.

Jared Loughner, pronounced by the Sheriff as Lock-ner, saying it was the Polish pronunciation. Of course he meant Scott or Irish but that isn’t the point. The point is he and his office have had previous contact with the alleged assailant in the past and that is how he knows how to pronounce the name.

Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation. My sympathies and my heart goes out to her and the rest of Mr. Loughner’s family. This tragedy must be tearing them up inside wondering if they had done the right things in trying to manage Jared’s obvious mental instability.
