Politicians don't want to
cure problems, they just want to treat them.
The Glass: US unemployment claims have fallen to their lowest level in 15 years. Does this mean the economy and thus employment is growing, or that even more people have abandoned all hope of ever getting another job?
Hide In Pain Slight: Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby, who is prosecuting the six police officers involved in Freddie Gray's death, wants to keep Gray's autopsy secret – in order to “ensure a fair and impartial process for all parties involved." She also wants a gag order on everyone in the city and refuses to give a copy of the autopsy to the police. Makes ya wonder.
Entrapment: US home prices increased 6.8% y/y in April, while the average down payment fell to a three-year low.
Freedom From The Press: Turkey's would-be dictator for life Recep Erdoğan is seeking a life sentence for the editor who published the video of Erdoğan's intelligence service smuggling arms to Syrian rebels and ISIS fighters. Obama is envious, as ex-CIA officer Jeff Sterling only got 42 months for leaking information about US messing with Iran's nuclear program.
Clarification: Viktor Orban, Hungary's Prime Minister says that “multiculturalism” doesn't work in the fascistic future he envisions for the country. Who says austerity isn't working exactly as intended?
Clip & Salivate: Qatar's Foreign Minister says that there is “no way” the country will lose its World Cup hosting rights because there is no evidence that bribery was involved in the decision. Yet.
Confession: April Group, a leading maker of pulp and paper products, says it stopped clear-cutting Indonesian rainforests on May 15 of this year and hopes to end all of its rainforest clear-cutting by 2019. It wants to be pure, but not yet.
Public Service Announcement: Great Britain's GCHQ has released phone and email intercepts that show that two British lawmakers want the courts to rule that the intelligence agencies' powers to intercept civilian phone and Internet communications violates their right to privacy.
Stiffened Upper Lips: The London borough of Hackney has issued orders that give police the power to stop any and all activities they deem to be anti-social. Begging and sleeping on the streets and in public places are such offenses, punishable by fines from £100 to £1,000. Very few people who “sleep rough” can afford to be poor in Hackney. The clowns currently running the country plan to sell off the government's remaining 30% of Her Majesty's Royal Mail (the name is extra, but negotiable – contact Liz at Buckingham). The same bunch is mostly responsible for regulations that are pushing thousands of children into “severe poverty and hunger” because their parents cannot work and cannot qualify for government help.
Covert Inaction: Donald Trump is upset that “the clowns” in the White House haven't asked him to share with them his secret plan to destroy ISIS. Hint, it involves hairspray and multiple bankruptcies.

Sterling was convicted of leaking to the public "Operation Merlin" was a United States covert operation under the Clinton Administration to provide Iran with a flawed design for a component of a nuclear weapon ostensibly in order to delay the alleged Iranian nuclear weapons program, or to frame Iran.
As a nation which has never pledged no nuclear first strikes, and indeed has waged nuclear war on both the people of Japan and (an illegal undeclared nuclear war) on the peoples of the Marshall Islands; it's conceivable that the planting of such drawing was to serve the same purpose as the aluminum tubes in Iraq; an excuse for war, perhaps even a 3rd nuclear war.
