SAR #16148

Euphemisms don’t change reality.
Not only is this the Memorial Day weekend – although we've long since either forgotten or abandoned that which we were to remember – but I devoted yesterday to celebrating my granddaughters, the valedictorian and salutatorian of their high school class. And that was most memorable.

Congratulations to everyone! Likewise, we're celebrating our daughter's transition out of middle school and into high school. And I'm travelling a few hundred miles this weekend to put flowers on my Dad's parents' graves. I'm working overtime to rediscover that which we were to remember.

Well played, brilliant shot! (I'll shut up now, don't want to ruin it for anyone else!)

Charles, congrats to your granddaughters!
All that we should remember have not been forgotten.
If you have never visited, I highly recommend a visit to the National WW2 Museum in New Orleans, LA. This is one of the bigger weekends for the Museum.

Far from glorifying war, it tells the story of the American experience during that war and the stories of those who fought.

Before the compliments get too deep, there's this: At the celebratory dinner last night their father asked the girls “Are going to work this summer?"

After a nearly unbearable pause, one looked at the other and then back at her dad and asked "Why would we?"

I was never asked if I was getting a summer job, I was asked where I was working.

Times change. - ckm
