SAR #12351

It is not that it happened, it's that we let it keep happening.

Assignment: Define 'hypocrisy”.

Piece Process:Israel – under one or another peace deal – collects about $100 million a month in duties that belong to the Palestinians. It's a result of the strange netherland in which Palestine exists, not quite a state, but still somewhat of one. But in another display of its essential meanness , Israel is withholding these funds. Not pretending they are not owed and due, just withholding them. Because they can.

Conditions: The death rate for those who are uninsured is 40% higher than those who have insurance. How many people will die if the Medicare age is increased to 67? How many under the Republican plan that leaves 44 million uninsured?

Suspicions Confirmed: Now even the establishment media agree that big banks are criminal enterprises. Big criminal enterprises. After all, “The system is set so that even if you’re caught, the penalty is just a small number relative to what you walk home with. The fine is just a cost of doing business. It’s like a parking fine. Sometimes you make a decision to park knowing that you might get a fine because going around the corner to the parking lot takes you too much time.” - Joseph Stiglitz

Without Comment: Silvio Berlusconi announced he was engaged to his girlfriend, who is 50 years his junior, and now feels "less lonely".

Porn O'Graph: Coincidences happen.

Gee, don't we have something like that RICO law for large criminal enterprises? And the whole structure of Sarbanes Oxley, is kinda supposed to enforce something.

But it would be too much trouble to charge them with crimes, because they are big and somebody may laugh at them and disrupt the economy? Is that the excuse they go with

It sounds like back in school when a kid could not get in trouble because of his parents being important. And that always worked out so well in the long run, either a Banker or a Phsycopath.

define hypocrisy?

few if any of the gun regulations ive heard in the media would have likely stopped adam lanzas mass murdering children

here is one idea that likely would

a law requiring all owners of firearms to own a safe and keep any firearm they own either locked in the safe or under their direct control (as in on their person)

obviously there is much we dont yet know about adam lanza but it appears that a sociopathic, paranoid, antisocial young man got a hold of guns that did not belong to him and slaughtered 20 defenseless children

we can do additional things that will make us all more safe under a variety of circumstances...all gun purchases, even private transfers should require a background check

and high capacity magazines are not appropriate for civilian use

btw im a gun owner and a member of the nra and support reasonable additional regulations as indicated above

The idea of a law is fine - as are the trigger-lock laws. The problem is adherence and enforcement.

Banning new automatic and semi-automatic weapons and large capacity (defined as more than 2 or 3 rounds - either you're gonna hit the target or you're not) clips are fine ideas that would leave tens of millions floating around.

A conscious decision by society as a whole to do these things and - more importantly - to change our blood-thirsty and violent culture would also be required.

And I don't think we're about to do any of these things. Yes, there'll be a national discussion and a bunch of poorly crafted laws, but in the end we'll do little that works. - ckm
