SAR #16097

I seem to have misspoken.
Your response to my hasty and ill-conceived resignation – filled as it has been with expressions of appreciation, affection and some degree of addiction - has swayed me nearly as much as my spouse's insistence that I stop bombarding her with puns, sage observations and wry insights else she would make up the bed in the Other Room.
So here's the deal. I'll resume posting SAR on most weekdays, with content no longer than I easily can slip into the day. Photographic Parting Shots and Pornographs will be occasional treats.
But I will not impose requirements on myself regarding the seriousness or relative importance of the items selected for comment. Let's face it, no one wants to hear about global warming – we're toast and there's really nothing more to say. Or the death of democracy – the corpse is cold and the mourning done. That the rich have already inherited the earth is incontestable and only an organized attempt at their overthrow would be worth comment. And so on.
Pretty much, I'm freeing myself from the rules I imposed on myself. You are all invited along for the ride.
And before you get all comfortable, I'm going on vacation, so between now and the end of the month, posting will be... occasional.
What really got this reconsideration started was this item:
Give 'em A Hand: Research suggests that ejaculation may lower the risk of prostate cancer.
So here's the latest edition:
Abolition, women's suffrage, trust busting, civil rights and gay marriage were once impossible, Ms. Clinton.
Panama Root Canal: Where are all the Americans? Why go to Panama if we’ve got Delaware, Nevada, and Wyoming?
Assigned Reading: The Showdown At the Philadelphia Corral.
Yes, But: The Lady in Waiting (Impatiently) says that Bernie Sanders is a 'single issue' candidate. True, but that single issue that he cares so much about is us.
Humanity: Children who survived the disastrous earthquake in Nepal are being “sold as slaves” to British families.
Shopping List: Gotta go to the bookstore today and get my new Tennessee State Bible; it's the law.

An occasional and limited SAR is better than no SAR. Welcome back!

Thank you! And Hallelujah!!! Something is better than nothing, and we'll gladly take all the "occasional offerings" you provide. I'm so glad you're back. You simply didn't realize before how much we appreciate you.

This is great, and so funny because I stopped by to see if you could resist commenting on the Clinton campaign's snide remark that they have, "lost patience" with Bernie - as if he is a recalcitrant child, getting in her way. Let this be a vehicle and release to allow yourself and your wife to remain sane. I will continue to appreciate your offerings.

CKM,

thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you,………

and maybe …just maybe, you might want to deputize, if that would be a help, one or two, trusted, long time commenters to occasionally recommend to you, stories for your possible comment and posting.

not suggesting they would post nor comment, but just serve as an "extra set of eyes"…

...might be a help…..or maybe not, i don't know just trying to offer an idea.

so happy you have put forth a "middle path". between your decade of INDENTURED SERVICE ;) ;) ;)

versus total departure.

when you announced your need to leave i felt like i was loosing a distant, but close, pen pal.

i so much appreciate you decision to reconsider…

and yes choosing to pick a pace that reflects our advancing years (uh hum i think we are of the same gen) means the party doesn't end, it just calms down a bit !

best regards

If a couple of days without the outlet of "us" drove your wife to threaten ya with a cold bed, well, .. seems that addiction runs both ways, huh? Glad to hear it! Thank you and tell your wife we are happy
to bear the burden of your wit, dark as it often is, it helps a lot.

How can I miss you if you won't leave?! I am so glad you have reconsidered closing your blog -- despite my opening line I missed you already.

My mother said to my dad once that she married him "for better and for worse, but not for breakfast" so I acknowledge my smart-aleck attitude openly, but I hope you recognize the affection hiding in my message.

Hope your vacation is a great one, but please return soon. We're all waiting patiently,
Hugs,
Teresa

At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. - Albert Schweitzer

So pleased to have you back and once again a sincere thank you for the extraordinary wit & insight into the many follies of our culture that you have shone a light on these many years through your observations & writings.

In the meantime, between your much anticipated future posts, I think I shall go reacquaint myself with Neil Postman's "Amusing Ourselves To Death" and watch the MSM live up to his thesis.

Please enjoy your vacation, stay safe and Merci encore!

Hi Charles,

I'm one of your quiet admirers. For a couple of years now I've enjoyed your wit, your insights and your regular contributions to our collective sanity.

As someone who has created a couple of blogs and then slowly abandoned them, I realize the hard work you've put into your effort. Thanks for everything!

Given the infinite elasticity of probability, you don't know for certain that you can't help. Apparently, some of us are paying attention, daily. Things are not looking good, but I'd rather going out knowing this one cat got it; it wasn't total oblivion.

So glad that you have reconsidered. Wifely protestations aside, which I find are very similar to my own, from she who must be obeyed.
Oh well. Happy wife is a happy life!

Now to put your blog back on my favorites list. Woo! Hoo!

Hey! Just thought I'd make sure you hadn't changed your mind only to find you had!

Great news. I'm not sure why I like SAR since I read most of your sources anyway but there it is.

I didn't realize you had rules - and am looking forward to your leaving them behind.

Thanks for your past entries, and those to come.
