Greasing
The Wheels:
Halliburton, Rolls-Royce, Samsung, Hyundai, Leighton Holdings and
lots more have been identified as practicing
capitalism by bribing their way into contracts, creating
political instability, turning citizens against their governments,
and fueling the rage that would erupt during the Arab Spring — and
be exploited by terrorist groups like al Qaeda and the Islamic State.
Companies and
individuals pay at least $1 trillion in bribes to public sector
officials annually. That's
what public service is all about.
The
Money Quote:
“America’s
infrastructure is so bad the self-driving cars can’t even find the
lanes on the road”. Experts
estimate that 65% of US roads are in poor condition, and rate the US
transportation infrastructure as, at best, 12th
in the world.
Knock
Knock:
In
an attack on Sanders, Clinton
insists
that
Americans cannot
“hold out for the perfect,” then
offers
herself as being less than perfect. Far less.
The
New Economy:
One way of looking at the new, gig, Uberized economy is that it is
something it is not – it is not new and it is not exciting and we
certainly hope it is not the future – for nearly all of the growth
in employment in the US in the last decade has been in the use of
self-employed contractors and 'temps'. Day laborers, one and all; no
benefits, no future, no power.
Ribbons,
Booties?
Mississippi, like a bunch of the other slave states, has passed a law
making it explicitly legal for both private and public sectors to
discriminate against LGBT people. It is not clear what will happen
if they chose to refuse service to a gay who turns out not to be gay.
How are the good people of Mississippi to know who they are to
discriminate against, now that color alone won't do? Will the
targets be required to wear different colored ribbons, or patches?

....and HRC??
Thanks CKM for this spotlight on a civilization gone mad, driven there by a rudderless corporate owned media and the single-minded, relentless [did I mention insane because money is worthless?] pursuit of the buck.
Hard to say which is more disturbing, the fact that it's all attributed or that nobody is doing anything about it?
No irony should be lost that 'greasing the wheels' drives this whole charade.
Gross mismanagement nurtured by people with too much money and not enough mental horsepower...talk about a sad state of affairs!
We totally mismanage money because almost all of us are clueless as to what it is/is supposed to represent.
We're driving ourselves to extinction over the mindless pursuit of a 'legal construct'/idea. How insane is that [although truth be told we have the ignorance factor at play again] we were all taught only a tiny fragment of the truth.
THe laws surrounding money must change or we will destroy ourselves.

The Sneetches is about two types of creatures, separated by having or not having stars on their bellies. The Star-Belly Sneetches think they are the best, and look down upon Sneetches without stars. The Plain-Belly Sneetches remain depressed and oppressed, prohibited from associating with their star-bellied counterparts, until Sylvester McMonkey McBean comes along with his Star-on and Star-off machines. He begins to give stars to the Plain-Belly Sneetches, and soon they are happy, for they look like their elite counterparts. The original Star-Belly Sneetches are angry at no longer being different and special, so they get Sylvester to remove all their stars. This continues back and forth until no one can remember which Sneetches were originally what, and an epiphany strikes them all at once: that it really doesn’t matter whether a Sneetch has a star belly or not - they are all really the same, and can coexist and be friends with one another.
Someday you all will be enlightened as well.
