SAR #15195
Once More, Without Feeling: Europe has agreed that forcing even more austerity on Greece will solve the problems caused by forcing austerity on Greece. Ain't gonna happen. It is clear we are witnessing one of the most daring raids on national democracy in post-war political history. Greece will cease to be a sovereign state. It will not control its currency, nor its economy, nor even its laws and regulations. Brussels and Berlin are taking over Athens. The will of the Greek electorate is irrelevant to the needs of the lenders who made bad loans years ago. How long before Berlin drives the Greek people into the very types of politics the EU was established to prevent?
Noted: Having watched neoliberal greed devour the Third World and take another bite of the Developed World in Greece, why would anyone think they'll stop now?
The Masters: “[T]he most hideous aspect of the three trade agreements currently under negotiation is precisely that they describe a world devoid of any other political actors; it’s just companies out there.”
Paving The Road: Bernie Sanders is breaking one of the unwritten commandments of US politics. He believes that America’s leaders shouldn’t worry so much about economic growth when that growth serves to enrich only the wealthiest Americans. “Our economic goals have to be redistributing a significant amount of [wealth] back from the top 1 percent,” even if that redistribution slows the economy overall. “Unchecked growth – especially when 99 percent of all new income goes to the top 1 percent – is absurd.”
Yes, But: One excited Bernie Sanders supporter cheered his proposals by noting that “‘Jesus was a socialist”, which is the sort of misreading of the Bible we should all guard against.
Mr. Republican: Scott Walker is white (as are 87% of Republicans) male (as are 52% of GOP voters) evangelical protestant (the most loyal GOP group), from a small town (as are over half of GOP voters), did not finish college (along with 42% of GOP voters) and at 49 he is the same age as the average Republican voter. He's not just another Republican candidate, he's the Republicans.
Lullaby And Good Night: An airstrike by the vigilant defenders of the empire have killed ISIS's “head songwriter.”

Seems to fit nicely here, IMHO.
Bernie did not say that Jesus was a socialist. A man who came to his rally was the one who made the comment. The title of the article is misleading but the text is clear. Please correct.
Anony 9.16. Done, thanks. - ckm
Anony 9.07. Unfortunately that would mean running Adobe Flash....
Re: Noted.
A web geek acquaintance I met in the early 2000's had done some work on early electronic currencies, but said he got out when the crook and spook quotient became too high.
In any case, he said we have got to find a way to protect our wealth. He said "they" have raided all the third world countries, and the West is next up for plunder. The US is the biggest fattest plum of all, and make no mistake, it will be raided.
This was early 2000's, which made this idea tinfoil hat territory in most circles, and years before the book Shock Doctrine came out.
In any case, viewing events before and since that encounter through the lens of a systematic methodical raiding of pots of money by the elite, pretty neatly explains everything going way back over the horizon of history and up to today.
We are not just next after Greece/Spain/Ireland, we have already been fattened and are in the slaughterhouse. The methodology is simply different in the US than for Greece, which seems easier to identify from outside. Rather than an overt creditor coup as with Greece, the US is being gutted from the inside. TPP is merely the coup de grace of a long process well underway.
The US has already entered the abattoir and had its throat slit and hung on the conveyor hooks... but, having been stunned by shocks to the brain, most people just don't realize we are already being systematically carved up and packed off. The primals are long gone. They are getting down to divvying up the burger meat and dog food.
Just finished reading Mr. Tspiras' comments about the "deal". It appears that he is now actively trying to discredit the deal inside of Greece.
Maybe now that he is home, Molon Labe takes on a meaning more like the original.
from: anon 9.07. Flash is disabled on my Firefox, and I can see the web-page okay. Ah, well, the mystery of non-standard internet standards.
Probably a Clinton Agent in the crowd planted that quip about Jesus being a socialist, hoping to do a John Lennon on Bernie. Right now the Republicans think they can beat him, and hope he does damage to Clinton, so it's unlikely they would do it -- though a rogue R agent, or just an idiot who's mouth runs faster than their brain could have done it.
