SAR #16077

Prayer is often simply an attempt to shift responsibility.
Entrails: The Republicans continue to insist that they will not meet, interview, interrogate, investigate, hold hearings on, or vote on any Supreme Court candidate nominated by Obama. (Fox says that being nominated by the President is the kiss of death.) Do they really, really think that Donald Trump's choices will make them happy? More to the point, will Hilary”s?
No Means No: Argentina told a Chinese ship to stop fishing in Argentinian waters. It did not so they sank it.
Baby, It's Coal Outside: Peabody Energy, the largest US coal miner says it may join its major rivals in seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after it “delayed” a $71 million interest payment that was due on March 15.
Gender Studies: Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer is urging Wall Street to “find a way to neuter” Senator Elizabeth Warren. At least he didn't say 'spayed'.
Agency: Pope Francis says that Mother Teressa will be made a saint next fall. Sorry, sir, but the best you can do is recognize sainthood, not “make” someone saintly – and most certainly not someone who wanted others to suffer so she could succor them.
Fair's Fair: FIFA says that the $190 million that had been forfeited by its officials who pled guilty to extorting bribes in return for their votes in selecting World Cup host cities should be returned to the organization. It was, after all, stolen fair and square by their officers in the ordinary course of business.
Boy Scouts: Donald Trump has told his supporters that they should be prepared to riot if he does not get the nomination.
Ontogeny Recapitulates Phylogeny: Scientists have been able to delay the maturational effects of certain genes in chickens, creating embryos with dinosaur legs – essentially reversing evolutionary change. Interesting. But moreso, this: The gene they manipulated was “the Indian homolog gene common to all animals, including man.” Except, of course, in Kentucky and North Carolina.
Porn O'Graph: “Except for the names and few other changes the story's the same...”

Re Mother Theresa. Interesting. Difficult to know what to think. Many conflicting stereotypes. Large nonprofits are hard to run, and also can tend to pathology. Organizations tend to suffer after their founders leave, or have stayed on too long. People and the media love to tear down icons. People who rise to those levels are usually complicated, driven, and can act as or be perceived as major jerks. Are we judging the operations out of their context of time/place/constraints - ie on net, were their operations better than the not (did they improve lives overall) compared to the alternative? It's complicated when arguing whether to engage or to shun controversial and/or sociopathic people of power. Large inflows of money tend to attract graft, waste, and questions. And... are we being unduly influenced by Christopher Hitchens?

re Trump rallies the brown shirts. aka shades of Trumpellnacht.

I don't know and am too lazy to look it up. But I assume that the GOP rules clearly lay out that if a candidate fails to gain the delegates needed, then there is a convention process already spelled out to decide who wins.

It sounds like Trump is complaining that if the primary ends without a winner, then the GOP should skip their run-off, and he should be declared the winner.

Of course, he may reasonably fear that the run-off will be fixed. But that's not how this reads. It reads that he wants to skip it.

... do away with all this democratic process and stoopid rules and make me king already.

[Sorry Donnie, that's the SCOTUS's job]

No, no. The really neat thing about the rules for the Republican convention is that the rules won't be finalized until a week before the convention. [I heard this on MSMTV last night so don'[t have a source to cite...]

CKM. Aha. Still, as I said, he reveals his instincts, instead of demanding a fair process, he demands that the process be skipped. And threatens violence if he doesn't get it.

Mr. Peabody and his trains should have gone long ago. https://youtu.be/DEy6EuZp9IY

Mother Teresa and Mother Mary: Both were and are useful tools for defrauding the poor and making them more accepting of Mr. Pullman's squeeze. Blessed are the poor and the meek, for they are fuel upon which the industry of this church shall be fired. Both products of a fiction, but at least the the former had a bit flesh to her nasty frame.

"They came with a Bible and their religion, stole our land, crushed our spirit, and now tell us we should be thankful to the Lord for being saved." Pontiac would have had a good laugh to see what the white man is doing to his own people.
